FACTORS RELATED TO HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED INFECTION AT HO CHI MINH CITY HOSPITAL FOR REHABILITATION – PROFESSIONAL DISEASES IN 2018

Abstract

Objective: To determining the rate of healthcare associated infection and related factors at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Rehabilitation – Professional Diseases in 2018. Method: An institution based cross-sectional study was conducted on all inpatient (>48 hours) in clinical departments between February and July 2018. The questionnaire was developed and revised based on the objectives of the study. Information collected indirectly through: Medical Records, Monitoring data from Department of infection control and Report from the Deparment of Microbiology at the time of monthly surveys. Factors affecting the rate of healthcare associated infection are determined by the multivariate regression model. Results: The results showed that the rate of healthcare associated infection is 2,02%. The multivariate poisson regression model determined related factors with an increase in the rate of healthcare associated infection: perform one of the invasive indications (tracheostomy, mechanical ventilation, urinary catheterization) and treatment at one of the clinical departments (except Orthopedic – Surgery Department and Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Department). Conclusion: Data from the results of our research emphasize the need for strict compliance of basic aseptic practice procedures and assess the quality of health care services. At the same time, the collected data help the hospital come up with appreciate infection control measures
