EVALUATION OF THE THEORY OF SYMPTOM MANAGEMENT: IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the Theory of Symptom Management, to apply the theory to the clinical practice of nursing care, thereby increasing the awareness of Vietnam’s nurses about theories and applying theories to practice, evidence-based practice. Method: Literature search, studies applied the symptom management theory, revealing the ability to apply the theory in clinical practice of nursing. Results: Nurses have initially implemented good management of symptoms in patients based on the application of the Symptom Management Theory, while improving the patient’s experience, improving the quality of care. Recommendations: There should be appropriate strategies to improve the knowledge, attitudes and practice skills of evidence-based nursing in VIetnam; the first step is to encourage the application of theories and research into patient care practices to improve the quality of care.
