Abstract

Objective: To describe the status of malnutrition among children with pneumonia at the Respiratory Department of Hai Phong Children’s Hospital in 2019. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out from March 2019 to June 2019 on 225 children under 5 years old diagnosed with pneumonia being treated at the Respiratory Department of Hai Phong Children’s Hospital. Results: wasting rate accounted for 29.3%, mainly grade I (24%), stunting rate accounted for 29.8%, mainly grade I (21,8%), underweight rate accounted for 19.6%, mainly grade I (16,4%). Conclusion: The rate of malnutrition in children is high and is associated with the degree of pneumonia. Research results show the need to pay attention to children’s diets when they are being treated for pneumonia.
