STRESS OF NURSES PARTICIPARTING IN THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF COVID-19 AT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AND LAM DONG II HOSPITAL IN 2022

Abstract

Objectives: The description study aims to describe the stress level of 415 nurses at Lam Dong Children’s Hospital and Lam Dong II Hospital who have directly participated in the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study was implemented among 415 nurses at Lam Dong Children’s Hospital and Lam Dong II Hospital who have directly participated in the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic. Data collected using self-filled forms evaluated through the DASS-21 toolkit from January 2022 to September 2022. Results:The proportion of nurses with mild stress moderate stress and severe stress were 42.3%, 28.9% and 6.2% respectively. Distribution of mild stress levels is common among female nurses, under 35 years old, average income less than 10 million, working environment: exposure to bad attitudes of patients/family members, contact with patients with Covid-19-like symptoms. Conclusion: Healthcare workers are facing mental health stresses, burdens and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is especially evident for those working in direct treatment, where there are inadequate facilities and limited resources.So hospital leaders need to take measures to support them; building a better salary, welfare and professional working environment. Nurses also need to understand the factors that can affect their psyche and cause stress in order to have a response plan
