Anxiety condition in patients having coronary intervention within 24 hours in Ha Noi Medical University Hospital

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of anxiety disorders in patients undergoing coronary artery intervention within 24 hours at Hanoi Medical University Hospital . Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 128 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention at the Cardiac Center from August 2022 to August 2023. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale was utilized to assess anxiety levels. Results: Of the patients who underwent coronary artery intervention, 37% exhibited anxiety disorders. Among them, 20.3% experienced mild anxiety, while 13.3% reported moderate anxiety. Notably, 1.6% of the patients displayed severe or very severe anxiety. Conclusion: The prevalence of anxiety disorders among patients within 24 hours following coronary artery intervention at Hanoi Medical University Hospital was moderate. Early identification of anxiety symptoms by healthcare professionals, especially nurses, is crucial in effectively managing postoperative depressive and anxiety disorders
