Nurses’ knowledge about fall prevention for patients at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital in 2023
Abstract
Objectives: To examine the current status of nurses’ knowledge about fall prevention for patients at Vinmec Time City International General Hospital in 2023. Research methods: Cross-sectional description on 179 nurses in clinical departments with inpatients at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital in 2023. Using the self-filling toolkit on knowledge and attitudes has reliability with Cronbach’s Alpha both greater than 0.7. Results: out of a total of 179 research participants, with 87.2% of nurses having knowledge achieved the definition of fall risk, 70.3% of nurses had satisfactory knowledge of fall risk factors, and 81.5% of nurses had satisfactory knowledge of fall prevention solutions. 81.0% of nurses had general knowledge about fall prevention, the average general knowledge score was 28.1 ± 6.3. Conclusion: 81.0% of nurses have satisfactory general knowledge about fall prevention, the average general knowledge score is 28.1 ± 6.3. In the care and management of fall risk in hospitals, it is necessary to regularly update knowledge for nurses with less than five years of experience, nurses trained through continued study, haved college degrees and nurses who have not yet implemented fall reporting
