NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES IN PLANNING TO BUILD SMART COASTAL URBAN AREAS AND LESSONS FOR SAM SON CITY, THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract

The 21st century is considered the “Century of Seas and Oceans”. Therefore, marine
exploitation strategies of many countries around the world are helping to find, exploit and
conserve many sources of raw materials, food, developing tourism and ensuring the survival
space in the future. However, the development and construction of coastal cities in Vietnam
in general and Sam Son city in particular still have many shortcomings. The article, through
the study of domestic and international experience in planning marine urban construction,
points out existing problems and proposes lessons for Sam Son in planning its construction
of smart marine urban areas in the future.
