Abstract

Residents and tourism enterprises are important stakeholders in all tourist
destinations. During the process of interaction, with different interests, roles, goals and
theories, these two groups often conflict with each other. In this study, the authors used indepth interviews with 20 residents (both tourism participants and non-participants) to
clarify conflicts between residents and tourism businesses. The research result is a
theoretical basis to make some suggestions for local authorities in managing conflicts,
creating consensus among stakeholders. Thereby, it contributes to promote the strengths of
the parties, creating a beautiful image for the destination.
