Researching on galvanic corrosion stability of structural steels in the salt water environment

Abstract

    Structural steels are are candidate materials for special uses in various fields such as traffic, military and irrigation applications... In irrigation field, various structural steels were used for manufacturing the steel structures of the water works on the salt water areas. On the other hand, these structures are usually manufactured from different types of structural steels therefore galvanic corrosion is inevitable. This study is mainly focused on determination the effect of the structural ratios on galvanic corrosion durability of materials.

    In the experiments, CCT38 and SUS 304 steel samples with different structural ratios have been tested. The methods for researching microstructure, mechanical properties, qualitative and quantitative analyses have been applied to evaluate the galvanic corrosion stability of structural steels.
