Development of seepage criteria in safety assessment for the earth dam of My Thuan reservoir, Binh Dinh province

Abstract

     Most of reservoirs in Binh Dinh province, which having work item to rising the water level is earth dam, are small and medium reservoirs. They were built in the 80s and currently are seriously degraded. The problem set out when using is earth dams have to ensure safety in general and seepage safety in particular. Currently, most such dams are no monitoring equipment to measure the saturated curve inside the dam body. Therefore, development of seepage criteria in safety assessment for the earth dam as a tool to evaluate the preliminary of seepage level, forecast the seepage safety when reservoir is operated at high water level, and have appropriate processing solution when happen unusual seepage during operation of the facility. In this article, the authors present the content of seepage criteria in safety assessment for earth dam of My Thuan reservoir: saturated upper limit curve and corresponding limited water release elevation.
