Abstract

The quality of underground water is decreasing and affecting the quality of life and health of the citizen. To overcome, the state has made efforts to provide tap water to the local. However, the rate of use is still very low. The study aims to survey water use status and opinions of people who live in district 12 on the current groundwater quality. At the same time, 33 samples of underground water are taken over 11 wards for quality evaluation. Initial results show that 97% of people still use groundwater as their main source of subsistence and very only a few people using tap water, although groundwater quality is showing a severe decline. Particularly low pH values range from 4.5 to 5.2 water samples that do not reach the standards causing the acidic water environment. In addition, the level of microbial contamination at very high levels for coliform concentrations reached more than 1000 CFU / 100 ml far exceeds the permissible standards in all 11 wards.
