Abstract

The coastal area of the Red River Delta is located downstream of the Red River - Thai Binh system, due to its downstream location, the surface water source is often in short supply, especially in thedrought years. Population growth, the process of urbanization and industrialization in recent yearshave strongly impacted the need for large water use, leading to a decline in surface waterresources. The main reason is due to the increase of industrial parks, leading to an increase inwastewater; overuse of fertilizers and chemicals in agricultural production ... causing pollution tothe water environment. Moreover, the phenomenon of saline intrusion in recent years has becomemore severe due to the influence of various causes and increasingly affecting the socio-economicdevelopment process in the region, especially the coastal provinces. The content of the article is toassess the evolution of surface water in the main river system and propose solutions to reducesurface water pollution in the coastal areas of the Red River Delta. Thereby, it is the basis forproposing solutions to manage and protect surface water sources on the main rivers of coastalprovinces in the Red River Delta.
