Abstract

In the central coast of Viet Nam, a large number of structures protecting, training the coasts, and estuaries has been constructed in the last decades. Due to types of topography and coastal morphology, revetments are widely applied to directly protect many coastal areas against wave, current impats. Quang Binh province has more than 100 km of coastline, mainly including high sandy dunes with the exception of low areas at several estuaries. After severe storm surges, some short sections of Quang Binh’s coast have been protected by solid revetments. The paper aims to assess the potential failures of Nhan Trach revetment in Bo Trach district. Applied the reliability theory, calculation has been conducted to reveal that movement of cover laryer units; excessive wave overtopping; and instability of The findings would be helpful to the repairing and upgrading works of the coastal protection structures during storm seasons
