Results of investing weather - resistance steel conditions at Cho Thuong Bridge

Abstract

      Cho Thuong Bridge was constructed in 1999 in Ha Tinh province of Vietnam, using weathering steel materials based on the Japanese standard JIS. To assess the status of the weathering steel after 13 years of service, the research group from the University of Transport and Communications of Vietnam and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation of Japan have together process study and investigating of corrosion status of the bridge from 2005 to present. This article presents a summary of the investigation esults, assessment of corrosion status of weathering steel in Cho Thuong Bridge. Thereby can appreciate that, fully weathering steel can be applied in Vietnam.
