IMPROVING WOULD-BE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS’ KNOWLEDGE OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING THROUGH READING CLASSES

This article reports the results of a study aiming to equip English majors - English language teachers-to-be with knowledge of project-based learning. A learningby-doing approach was adopted, in which students cultivated their knowledge by doing the project themselves in reading courses. A survey questionnaire was administered at the beginning of the course to investigate students’ current knowledge of project-based learning. Another survey and interviews were conducted at the end of the course to find out whether the intervention could improve students’ knowledge of project-based learning and their attitude to it. The obtained results revealed that the intervention did help English majors have a deeper understanding of project-based learning and they had
positive reaction to it.

SOLUTIONS TO DEVELOP GREEN CREDIT WITH THE PURPOSE OF STIMULATING CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN VIETNAM

INVESTIGATING STUDENT MOTIVATIONS AND BARRIERS TO ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING AT HONG DUC UNIVERSITY

This study explores the factors that motivate and demotivate undergraduate students in learning English at Hong Duc University. Data were collected through semistructured interviews with ten students from various majors. Thematic analysis revealed five motivating factors (career goals, cultural interest, teacher support, supportive environment, and social influence) and five demotivating ones (academic pressure, language skill problems, negative feedback, exam stress, and lack of speaking practice). The findings further indicated that increasing speaking activities, diversifying teaching methods, and promoting learner autonomy are essential for enhancing students’ motivation in learning English.

ZEROS OF FUNCTIONALS ON PARTIAL METRIC SPACES WITH APPLICATION

We prove a local version of a result obtained recently by Luong anh Hoc on the existence of zeros of functionals on partial metric spaces and apply it to the study of the preservation of zeros of a family of functionals. As a corollary, we derive a preservation result for fixed points of a family of multi-valued mappings in partial metric spaces.

USING MIND MAPS TO IMPROVE ENGLISH VOCABULARY FOR 10TH-GRADE STUDENTS AT LUONG DAC BANG HIGH SCHOOL

While vocabulary acquisition is a challenge for many language learners, mind mapping technique is believed to offer an effective way for them to improve vocabulary learning ability. This experimental study involved 90 students from classes 10A11 and 10A12 at Luong Dac Bang High School to assess the impact of mind map on vocabulary retention. The results from survey questionnaires, interview, pre-test, post-test and regular tests over 8 weeks indicate that students in the experimental group showed significant improvement in vocabulary knowledge compared to the control group. This affirms the role of mind maps in enhancing students’ vocabulary.

LYAPUNOV–KRASOVSKII FUNCTIONAL APPROACH FOR H-STABILITY ANALYSIS OF LINEAR CONTINUOUS-TIME SYSTEMS

In this study, we provide new adequate conditions to demonstrate the h-stability of linear continuous-time systems using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach, which may be seen as an extension of exponential stability. Additionally, we present a simulation-based example to illustrate the relevance of the obtained conclusions.

BUILDING ACTIVE LEARNING COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ ENGLISH COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE: REALITY AND SOLUTIONS

Over the past five years, the National Foreign Languages Project has made tremendous efforts to build and develop foreign language learning communities in the whole national education system. However, there remains a lack of active language learning communities (ALCs) outside classroom to offer exposure to students’ English usage in real settings. This article provides a theoretical framework for building ALCs and examines the reality of building ALCs at higher education institutions, thereby offering solutions to the building of sustainable ALCs. The study employs both the quantitative method using a questionnaire-based survey and the qualitative approach utilizing observation and synthesis of primary and secondary sources. The findings suggest that building learning modes and seeking a feasible model of promoting students’ learning motives have become the most important factors for the sustainable development of ALCs at tertiary education level.

ENGLISH MAJORS’ RESPONSES TO SUPPLEMENTARY GRAMMAR EXERCISES IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM

This study explores the effectiveness of supplementary grammar exercises provided through Google Classroom for first-year English majors. By integrating technology into grammar instruction, the study aimed to enhance students' learning experience and improve grammar proficiency. Over a 12-week period, students completed online exercises, followed by a survey and interviews to assess their perceptions. Findings revealed that the majority of students found the exercises useful, appropriately challenging, and beneficial for self-regulated learning. The study highlights the advantages of incorporating technology into grammar instruction and suggests minor adjustments to optimize learning outcomes.

ISOLATED COMPOUNDS FROM THE STERM OF ROUREA MINOR

Rourea minor subsp. microphyllais is a species which belongs to the family of Connaraceae. According to traditional medicine, R.minor is used to treat wounds, prevent infection and hemostatic effect. In this report, three compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Rourea minor stem including protocatechuic aldehyde (1), procyanidin A1 (2) and isoquercetrin (3). The isolated compounds were structurally elucidated by modern spectroscopic methods and compared with previously published information on these compounds.

AN INVESTIGATION INTO FOREIGN LANGUAGE SPEAKING ANXIETY IN ENGLISH CLASSROOMS AT TERTIARY LEVEL

Achieving fluency in English communication remains a challenge for many. Thus, this study aims to explore the extent of foreign language speaking anxiety (FLSA) and identify the factors contributing to FLSA in English classrooms at Yersin University of Dalat, Vietnam (hereafter referred to as YUD). The study involved the participation of 200 students from YUD who are not majoring in English. The study’s findings indicated that students experienced a high level of FLSA. The six primary factors identified as causing FLSA included Teachers’ manner, Lack of language knowledge, Lack of confidence and preparation, Fear of negative attitude, Inability to express ideas, and Fear of making mistakes.

THE EFFECTS OF MICRONUTRIENT FOLIAR FERTILIZERS ON CERTAIN PHYSIOLOGICAL TRAITS AND YIELD OF CHERRY TOMATO (LYCOPERSICUM ESCULENTUM MILLER.) GROWN IN THANH HOA PROVINCE, VIETNAM

This paper presents the research results on the effects of micronutrient foliar fertilizers on certain physiological traits and yield of cherry tomato variety grown under rain-sheltered conditions in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam. The findings show that in experimental formulas such as F2 (Ev05 Humi pro), F3 (Hd 99), F4 (Etda Zinc), and F5 (Ac-Gaba-Cyto), cherry tomato plants exhibited better growth and development compared to the control (Formula 1). This was evident through indicators such as leaf chlorophyll content, photosynthetic intensity, total number of flowers per plant, effective flower ratio, number of fruits per plant, and average fruit weight. Different formulas of micronutrient foliar fertilizers resulted in varying yields, with F5 (Ac-Gaba-Cyto) producing the highest yield at 36.53 tons/ha, followed by F2 (Ev05 Humi pro) with 35.24 tons/ha. F3 and F4 (Hd 99 and Etda Zinc, respectively) also yielded higher than the control (31.57 tons/ha), though not as high as F5 and F2.

ACTIVE CONSTRAINTS SELECTION BASED ON DENSITY PEAK ESTIMATION

Semi-supervised clustering, which integrates side information from users to enhance clustering performance, has gained considerable attention in the research community. However, the quality of clustering is highly dependent on the side
information provided, and different inputs can lead to different results. In this paper, we propose an active learning approach for selection good constraints, which employs a min-max strategy and density-based estimation of data points to optimize the constraints selection process. Experimental evaluations on datasets from UCI and an real face image data show the effectiveness of our method.

ENHANCING TOURISM HUMAN RESOURCE TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS FOR INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF LEARNING MOTIVATION

Amid globalization and digital transformation, tourism education in emerging economies like Vietnam faces increasing demands for quality and global integration. This study employs PLS-SEM to analyze data from 538 students and validate a model identifying key factors influencing training effectiveness, with learning motivation as a mediating variable. Results reveal that all five input factors-teaching quality, training curriculum, internship opportunities, school–enterprise linkage, and digital competence positively affect learning motivation, with the strongest effects from school-enterprise linkage and teaching quality. Only three factors have direct impacts on training effectiveness, while the others operate indirectly through motivation. The study contributes to theory by clarifying direct and indirect influences and offers practical recommendations for enhancing curriculum design, teaching, and institutional–industry collaboration to improve graduates’ global readiness.
