An overview of international scientific publications of Vietnam

Abstract

By using highly reliable statistical data, this paper qualitatively and quantitatively clarifies the situation of international scientific publications of Vietnam in comparison with that of other countries during more than past 20 years. Other factors related to scienctific research and international cooperations are also mentioned. This paper also analyzes the situation of international publications of the University of Danang in the relation to a number of dosmestic universities. The analysis results show that the number and the quality of international publications of Vietnam are equal to those of other countries which share similar socio-economic conditions, but have lagged far behind advanced countries. The findings of the paper can be seen as a reliable basis for determining science development strategies in the future.
