Abstract

Nowadays, Vietnam becomes a new market for small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). These UAVs use propellers that operate in the low Reynolds number range of 5×104 to 105 based on the propeller chord at the 75% blade station. This paper presents the tests performed at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to quantify the noise coefficient of propellers with diameters ranged from 8 to 11 inches in the Reynolds number range of 5×104 to 105 at the conditions of temperature and air humidity in Ho Chi Minh City.  The result obtained from these tests can help the proper selection of propellers for small UAVs. Furthermore it can be served as an experimental database for the measurement propeller and engine’s noise of the three-seat airboat designed by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT).
