Abstract

The wind turbine blade is a very   important part of the rotor. Extraction of energy from wind depends on the design of blade. In this paper, the authors based on the blade element theory (BET) and the model of an optimum rotor developed by Glauert’s to design a 1000-mm-long horizontal axis turbine blade model. This model was then used for the finite element analysis. The authors also used the code of the commercial finite element ANSYS to conduct analyses. The results from the linear static structural analysis revealed that the best design provides adequate stiffness and strength to produce the proposed power without any structural failure
