Analyzing the stability of rectangular plates subjected by the harmonic forces

Abstract

This paper refers to the behaviors of rectangular plates subjected by in-plane periodic compressive forces in the form ny(t)=ny0+nytcosq(t) on two opposite edges. The rectangular plates with simply-supported along its four edges is considered; the plate is assumed to be thin, initially flat and the plate material is elastic, homogeneous and isotropic. based on the first-order generalized asymptotic method,, the author will determine the unstable region caused by the parametric resonance. From these results, the author is going to analyze the behaviors of plates over time as the frequency of the load is changed.
