Huiguan architecture of the Hoa in Hoian (Quang Nam province)

Abstract

Huiguans in Hoian are great archivements built by countrymen who come from southeast coastal provinces of China and bearing traditions of the Chinese merchants. Those are places for Hoa people could give their regards, business experiences or express sentiments toward fellow – countrymen. As the same time, huiguans are temples for them to offer their belief to the god or goddess worshiped in folk belief of the Hoa and places to make the festivals every year. The ancient architectures of huiguans in Hoian are buildings which symbolise to Hoian and contribute to compose the shape of Hoian ancient town in the past and present. Nowadays, Hoian are in the time of rapidly development, the ancient buildings including the huiguans of the Hoa must be done in researching as well as in preserving and bringing into play. Concurently, we need to exploit effectly these heritage to make plans to develop our economy, culture and tourism in Hoian.
