Effect of oxodegradable additives to biodegradation ability of LDPE film

Abstract

This paper presents the influence of oxodegradable additive – Eco.Degradant PD- 04 to LDPE film in the following conditions including: temperature, UV radiation and the weather in Ho Chi Minh City. The results showed that increasing amount of additive PD04 from 0-6 phr led to the increase in the degration of LDPE film (tensile strength and elongation were decreased).

The temperatures have significantly affected UV radiation: tensile strength of sample A6T6 (6 phr PD04) at a temperature of 800 C for 60 hours reduced completely while (A6UV24) UV radiation in a 24 hour period, the tensile strength decreased by 35%. The model MODA demontrated the biodegradation ability of sample A6T6 at 34% during 45 days.
