Study on sustainable model of industrial park for Mekong delta area based on the utilization of local recyled materials.

Abstract

Based on a comprehensive review of the eco-industrial park development worldwide, the available agriculture and aquaculture production potentials of the Mekong Delta region and current environmental protection requirements, the study focuses on scientific fundamentals analysis to develop three industrial models orienting to sustainable development that utilize the local recycled materials from agriculture and aquaculture production. On that basis, the study develops a criteria system and appropriate method of decision support for the selection of feasible and reasonable model for the particular cases. For the case study of Dong Binh industrial park (Vinh Long province), the study result shows that the model of “local material recycle with waste treatment” is most appropriate to make it become a typical sustainable industrial park for the Mekong Delta regon in the future.
