Study on inflorescence development of dendrobium Sonia by using in vitro culture techique
Abstract
Flowering of Dendrobium sp. involves the transition of a vegetative meristem, producing leaves and stems, into a floral meristem, producing flower. This inflorescence meristem functions as a site of continuous organogenesis within which there is a small pool of pluripotent stem cells. Longevity and activity of inflorescence meristem corresponding to number of flowers on each inflorescence peduncle were observed by culturing inflorescence meristem explants on Ma medium supplemented with 1mg/l zeatin, 0,5mg/l AIA and 1mg/l GA3. With 5mg/l BA, inflorescence meristem formed vegetative buds instead of developing of inflorescence. Roles of plant growth regulators on longevity of inflorescence meristem and number of flowers will be discussed.
