The influence of pesticides on the sprayer’s health

Abstract

Prolonged exposure to pesticides can lead to cardiopulmonary disorders, neurological and hematological symptoms and skin disease [2]. In this unique study, we assessed the impact of prolonged pesticide use on farmers health, especially with the sprayers. The results of the study showed that pesticide use has a significant, negative effect on farmer. Frequences of health risk were assessed relatively to differential levels and dose of pesticide use, differences in types of chemicals used and farmer characteristics. Therefore, the regulatory policies that discourage the use of highly hazardous chemicals must be examined, especially in terms of their impact on farmer health. Beside of this, the investments in farmer training and information campaign on proper pesticide management and use personal protective equipment could help reduce some of the health risks
