The study of the formation of cell suspension of Polyscias Fruticosa L. Harms.
Abstract
The aim of the paper is to present some initial results in the study of cell suspension culture and relevant root formation of Polyscias fruticosa L. Harms, of which the saponin content is high. In the Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 2,4-D 2mg/l, the samples of Polyscias fruticosa L. Harms are materials to make callus. The 14 week old callus from young leaves are transferred to MS medium supplemented with 20% coconut water and 2,4-D 1mg/l , cell suspension is obtained after 8 weeks. Cell suspension well develops and the root formation occurs in MS medium with sucrose 30g/l, coconut water 20%, 2,4 - D 1mg/l and BA 2,0mg/l. The saponin extraction is carried out from obtained roots. By using this method, a large number of saponin is obtained and could meet the demand of pharmaceutical industry.
