SYNTHESIS AND APPLICATION OF Cu-Fe HYDROTALCITE IN ALDOL REACTION

Abstract

The heterogeneous recyclable catalyst, Cu-Fe hydrotalcite, was synthesized by coprecipitation, activated at 200oC and then successfully applied in Aldol reaction. The Aldol products were obtained in moderate yield under mild conditions, simple and environmentally benign process, with the recovery of hydrotalcite catalyst up to 99%. This procedure also exhibited efficiency in the total synthesis of Abhexone, a flavor with high demand in the food and cosmetic industry.
