A SURVEY OF FRENCH MAJORS’ INTERNSHIP IN TOURISM

Abstract

Doing internship is an integral part of all training programs as it helps learners approach the real working environment. We have conducted a survey on French majors’ internship activities in the field of tourism in recent years in order to evaluate these activities and propose some solutions to improve the effectiveness of internship. First, we analyzed the internship records of students of Faculty of French from 5 batches QH2012, QH2013, QH2014, QH2015, and QH2016, who graduated in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, respectively. Then, we conducted a survey on internship activities of students from 5 batches QH2016, QH2017, QH2018, QH2019, QH2020 (in which QH2017 includes fourth-year students and QH2020 includes first-year students). Finally, we analyzed the evaluations from 18 businesses where the students did their internships. The findings allow us to make objective judgments about students’ internship activities and make suggestions to improve these activities, which help students determine the aims of their internships and make it easier for them to enter the labor market after graduation.
