LITERARY TRANSLATION AND TRAINING OF LITERARY TRANSLATORS IN RUSSIA

Abstract

The article provides a summary of Russian literary translation development which demonstrates the change in the concept of literary translation over the time. It can be said that the development of literary translation in Russia is like the process of demarcating the boundary between translation and independent artistic creation, and literary translation is recognized as a special type of creativity.

Literary translation training institutions in Russia base on this point of view to build their training programs. And one of such programs will be introduced in the article. It is the literary translation training program of the Gorki Literature Institute – the oldest literary translation training institution in Russia.
