Abstract

With the function of expressing various emotions and feelings, exclamatory sentences are used relatively frequently by Koreans in daily life. One of the factors that create this diverse expressive function is the special syntactic features of the Korean language. Researching syntactic characteristics in Korean, each scholar has a different approach, such as analyzing the characteristics of exclamation words, exclamation endings, etc. However, this article chooses a new, yet to be systematically mentioned in previous studies on Korean exclamatory sentences. That is to learn the syntactic features of exclamatory sentences through structurizing Korean exclamation sentences based on the sentence core. Accordingly, the article categorizes Korean exclamatory sentences into two types: exclamatory sentences with a sentence core and exclamation sentences without a sentence core. In the first type, based on combining and positioning the exclamatory words, the exclamation element with the sentence core can be classified more specifically into many exclamatory sentence structures. Exclamatory words and elements in Korean are also vibrant, including adverbs, auxiliary verbs, proverbs, exclamatory sentence-finalsuffixes, etc. Therefore, the combination of words and emotional elements with a sentence core to structurize and formulate into exclamatory expressions will help learners and scholars have a clearer, newer and more systematic view of the syntactic features, also known as characteristics of Korean exclamatory sentence creating methods.
