A CONTRASTIVE STUDY OF ADJECTIVE NOMINALIZERS OF JAPANESE WORDS "~SA" "~MI" AND VIETNAMESE WORDS "CÁI~", "SỰ~"

Abstract

This article studies contrastively adjective nominalizers of the words "~ Sa ", "~Mi" in Japanese and "Cái ~", "Sự~" in Vietnamese. The result of the survey shows that each adjective nominalizer has its own meanings and use. Selecting the right one to use depends on many factors such as: kind of adjective, kind of noun it is changed into. In addition, the result of contrastive study also points out the similarities and differences between the ways of use and the meanings of the adjective nominalizers in Japanese and Vietnamese.
