The technological level to produce high pressure equipment in Viet Nam is still limited. The use of "selection design" method will help to select suitable equipment with lower price than to import a complete set of water-jet cutting machine. This paper introduces a new design process for selection of equipment such as pump, nozzle, nozzle's movement and control systems for water-jet cutting machine. The results of calculation by using this method can be used to select effectively water-jet cutting machines in civil, military and industrial engineering.
