Agriculture in Thanh Hoa province in the context of climate change

  • Trần Thị Ninh

Abstract

Thanh Hoa is a comparatively advantageous province for the development of a large-scale agricultural production, first of all to serve the needs of local people and export on the spot. The most profitable industries are: dairy farming, sugarcane cultivation, vegetable cultivation, and planting materials for the paper industry. However, agricultural development in Thanh Hoa province is facing difficulties and challenges due to the influence of climate change. Changes in climate change in Thanh Hoa in recent years are evident in high temperatures, rising sea levels and especially extreme weather events (floods, droughts, storms, salinization...). Climate change has a large impact on agricultural production, affecting factors such as seasonal patterns, crop and livestock development, and hence productivity and yield. Before that situation, an urgent requirement for Thanh Hoa province is to develop a sustainable agriculture that is adaptable to climate change.
