REVIEW ON POTENTIAL MODULATION SCHEMES FOR 5G AND NEXT GENERATION WIRELESS SYSTEMS

Abstract

In this paper, we review on four potential modulation schemes for 5G and next generation wireless system, inchuding: FBMC (Filter Bank Multicarrier), GFDM (Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing), UFMC (Universal Filtered Multicarrier) và f-OFDM (filtered-OFDM). These are the waveforms which have good spectral property, so they can overcome the problem of inter-carrier interference (ICI) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Next, a comparison of properties and power spectral density (PSD) of waveforms is mentioned. Finally, some technical problems are pointed out and possible solutions are proposed to apply these waveforms to next generation wireless systems.
