Abstract

Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on clean water and sanitation has been identified as a pivotal and catalytic goal for the entire 2030 Agenda. Specific targets in SDG 6 are not entirely distinct from one another, but rather are interdependent. These indicators create a complex network of interrelationships. Understanding the relationship between these indicators can assist in defining a coordinated system between the focal points and the agencies and organizations involved in data sharing or collaborating to collect and synthesize data. Consequently, the effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation resources will be improved, and synergy will be maximized. This study summarized and analyzed the need to collect and share information among technical focal points in reporting the achievement of SDG6 targets. Simultaneously, the study examined the similarity of date across the indicators and the capacity to share information and data between technical focal points. The study then provided a coordination orientation and recommendations for establishing an overall monitoring and evaluation process to improve the effectiveness of implementation resources.
