Abstract

Currently, landslide monitoring in Viet Nam is predominantly carried out using indirect
measurement methods, which involve using one or more standard benchmarks in combination with
specialized devices to measure slope displacement and deformation. However, these methods heavily rely on natural conditions such as weather (GPS, total station) or complex techniques (Inclinometer). In this study, the authors propose the application of accelerometer sensors to collect and compute the displacement of a sliding arc. The ground displacement results are calculated through two integrations of acceleration. Additionally, this research employs bias elimination and Kalman filtering techniques to reduce input signal noise and enhance the accuracy of computations. The simulation modele consists of three components: (i) A monitoring device comprising ESP32 microcontroller, MPU9250 accelerometer sensor, and other modules, (ii) The sliding arc, and (iii) The horizontal slide rail. As the sliding arc moves, the device automatically collects, stores, and calculates the displacement. The error between the measured displacement from the device and the actual displacement is below 5%. This finding allows us to propose the application of accelerometer sensors in landslide monitoring and warning systems.
