Using amino naphtalene sulfonic acid doped polypyrol as anticorrosive additive for epoxy primer

Abstract

The polypyrol doped with amino naphthalene sulfonic acid was prepared by chemical oxidative method using ammonium persutphate (Ppy-ANSA). The polymer was dispersed in epoxy resin and the corrosion protection property of the coating for steel has been evaluated by open circuit potential measurements and EIS in presence of artificial defect in the 0,1 M NaCl. The morphologies of defect during aging time were investigated by SEM studies. The results show a anion release from the Ppy that results in an inhibition of the corrosion process faking place in the defect.
