The relationship between released rate of NO2 and the stability of propellants

Abstract

The natural and heated accelerating agings of single-base (l2/1-Tp) and double-base (HБЛ-50) propellants were studied. The kinetics of agings of the propellants were described in form of rate equations in different humid conditions. The results showed that relesed rare of N02 closely related to the stability of propellants. The first order autocatalytic model reproduced very well the measured data and was able to predict the safe storage lifetime of the propellants in different storage conditions. The study showed the posibility of using relesed rate of N02 as a new criterion to assess stability of propellants.
