Using videos to motivate reluctant EFL students to talk in classroom

Abstract

The timidity of the learners to communicate is an issue faced by many language teachers. The common reason for learners ' reluctance to speak in ESL / EFL classrooms is the fear of making mistakes. Ten subjects of this study who are studying at Yersin University at the pre-intermediate level also offer the same reason for refusing to speak in class. Many methods have been used to urge English learners to engage in English speaking, but not many worked really well. The purpose of this study is to explore a motivating approach for silent and nervous learners: the use of videos. Data came from the checklist, the questionnaire, and the interview.
