FACTORS AFFECTING ABILITY OF DOING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHES OF LECTURERS AT HANOI UNIVERSITY OF INDUSTRY

Abstract

Doing scientific researches is the primary task of university lecturers in
parallel with teaching. In recent years, universities in Vietnam have become
more and more interested in the scientific research activities of lecturers through
reward policies, staff assessment and ranking. The article studied the factors
affecting lecturers’ research ability measured by the number of hours of doing
scientific researches in a school year. The survey was conducted for 285 lecturers
from Hanoi University of Industry on the basis of random sampling. Survey data
was analyzed through SPSS 20 software. Results of the study indicated four
factors: field of study, income, attitudes, research motivation which had positive
impact on ability of doing scientific research of the lecturers and professional
qualification factor had a negative effect.
