Abstract

This study created a 3D model for the breast cancer defected patients after
their surgical removal of one breast (mastectomy). Volunteers, who are breast
cancer patients who have had breast augmentation surgery, are taken their 3D scan
data of the chest area Scanned images are analyzed to determine the boundaries of
the breast. Reverse engineering was used to reconstruct the chest area and
determine the shape of the breast prosthesis. The results showed that the
contiguous positions of the breast and the chest area have a transition in terms of
the curvature of the body surface. This set of points allows us to define the
boundary of the breast with the rest of the chest area. Combination of the
unoperated breast and the remaining breast wall of the patient can determine the
shape of the appropriate prosthesis breast. This research has scientific and practical
implications, supplying for design mastectomy bra and breast prosthesis.
