Vocabulary plays a key role in language learning process and using exercises to teach
vocabulary is considered an effective method to help students improve their lexical knowledge. The study
was conducted to evaluate its effectiveness of accounting major students’ vocabulary learning in ESP lessons.
The research design used a mixed method to collect data from 52 students of the Faculty of Accounting and
Finance at Hai Phong University. The result of the research showed that using exercises brought considerable
improvements to the students’ vocabulary retention and their perception of ESP learning.
