ENHANCING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF TOURISM CLUSTER OF THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE

Abstract

Thua Thien Hue is a convergence of mountains, forests, lagoons, sea and diverse historical relics. Especially, with the two world cultural heritages known as Hue Imperial Citadel and Hue Royal Court Music, this place has great potentical for developing tourism. Thua Thien Hue tourism is always seen as a key economic sector, which is clearly reflected in the Central and Local master tourism development planning. However, the results of tourism development in Thua Thien Hue in recent years have not really lived up to expectations. Using the diamond model of Michael E. Porter, this study assesses the competitiveness of Thua Thien Hue tourism as well as suggests some appropriate policies to improve competitive advantages of this cluster.
