Abstract

The study aims to analyze the short run and long run relationships between age structure, human capital and economic growth in Vietnam for the period 1986-2019 by using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model and Bound test method. The results found a positive long-term relationship between the proportion of the elderly population and GDP growth in Vietnam and a negative relationship between human capital and economic growth in Vietnam in both the short and long run. Policy implications are suggested to taking advantage of the period of "golden population structure", adapting to the rapid aging of the population, improving human capital in order to promote  economic growth rapid and sustainable growth in Vietnam
