FDI WITH DEVELOPMENT OF VIETNAM’S PROCESSING AND MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY IN THE CONTEXT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

In the context that the Covid-19 pandemic is still having servere impacts in the world as well as in Vietnam, production, trade and investment activities have all been severely affected. In recent years, Vietnam's processing and manufacturing industry has always been the leading industry in attracting FDI, promoting exports, creating jobs, etc. However, the operational efficiency of FDI enterprises in the industry is still very limited, the link between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises is still weak. Along with that, the Covid-19 pandemic took place, continuing to cause significant impacts on the process of attracting FDI into the domestic manufacturing and processing industry. By methods of theoretical and practical synthesis, analysis, comparison, evaluation, etc., the paper focuses on reviewing and evaluating the impacts of covid-19 on attracting FDI into the manufacturing and processing industry. Vietnam, assess opportunities, challenges and propose some solutions in the new context.
