Abstract

This study analyzes the impacts of logistics performance on export margins, consisting of extensive margins and intensive margins by utilizing export data of Vietnam's Trade with 79 trading partners over the period 2007-2018. The research divided total export flows into the extensive and intensive margins of Vietnamese exports by respectively calculating the number of exported products and the export value of old products categorized by 6-digit HS code level. The findings propose that logistics performance has a statistically positive significant effect on both bilateral export volume and export margins. It highlights that the impact of logistics performance on intensive margins is stronger than of extensive margins. This study also provides some policy implications to improve logistics activities that can promote export variety with corresponding trade volume in Vietnam.
