CYMBOPOGON CITRATUS VALUE CHAIN ANALYSIS FOR TUY PHUOC DISTRICT OF BINH DINH PROVINCE

Abstract

In the restructuring of scops towards increasing efficiency in the exploitation of resources in rural areas, growing medicinal plants is a choice that has paid much attention recently in localities. This study was conducted to identify actors in the value chain of Cymbopogon Citratus, assessing the net profit and added value of actors in the research area, thereby proposing solutions to develop the value chain of Tuy Phuoc district. A survey was conducted with 136 people who are the main actors participating in the value chain of Cymbopogon Citratus, including farmers, local collectors, wholesalers, and retailers. The results indicate the farmer is the highest value-added actor in the value chain. However, the difference in net profit of farmers compared to other factors is not significant. So it's not enough to affect farmer increase production or attract new farmers engaged in this field. Many other solutions are also proposed to develop the value chain of Cymbopogon Citratus in the Tuy Phuoc district sustainability.
