Abstract

Based on the Binh Dinh’s cadastral register of Gia Long of the 14th dynasty in the XIX century (1815), the statistical and historical method as well as results of the studies the article creates a picture of the land ownership in Binh Dinh Province in the early years of the XIX century. Result of this analysis indicates that in Binh Dinh and in the country as a whole there was an overlapping relation between public and private ownership of the land, in which the private ownership overwhelmed the public ownership; however, the private ownership which belonged to small scale and scattered type was typical in the land ownership in Binh Dinh province. The article also refers to a number of reasons for this phenomenon. Nevertheless for the time being because of insufficient documents and materials, greater efforts would be needed to make more profound analysis of the problem. The article is focused on the following points
  1. The land ownership through general statistics of Binh Dinh’s cadastral register
  2. The status of the private ownership of the land through 24 cadastral registers in Binh Dinh province .
  3. The features and causes for the status of land ownership in Binh Dinh province
