Developing geographical information system to manage bus routes in Hanoi city

Abstract

Geographic information system for bus management shouldt be a scientific information system and easy to, search for information. This system includes all bus data such as route name, route number, route schedule, fare, operating time, frequency of operation, route length, total stops,... Therefore, building a geographic information system for bus management must be in line with current urban transport infrastructure which has been highly invested by the government. In order to build a complete and scientific geographic information system for bus management, it is necessary to collect a complete database of buses throughcollecting many specific questions from the bus management officers and bus information users. Based on these questions, the study analyzed the trend of using bus information in Hanoi and build a structured information storage model for the system. The authors applied the method of editing and drawing the administrative map incorporating with previousrelated documents to build a GIS database on bus management. This paper provides all information such as route name, route, ticket price, operating time, frequency of operation, route length, total stops, vehicle turn, capacity and vehicle brand.
