09. Building an application on smart mobile devices for the collection and sharing of landslide information

Abstract

The Landslide Mobile application is developed to collect location data and landslide information. Collecting landslide information from many App users easily and quickly is the main application of Landslide Mobile. In addition, it also provides a landslide inventory function. The design of this application is based on the proficiency of the App users (professional and non-professional). Thus, the user interface guides through the compilation process of each entry, following a standard geology questionnaire. At a minimum, the user provides the landslide type and a photo taken at the site of the landslide, and the app stores the phone’s location via a built-in navigation module. When the record is saved, the application will synchronize with the server and in case the smartphone is not connected to the internet service, it will sync when online.
