Abstract

Fingerling fish quality in aquaculture is an issue of great concern by the Fisheries Sector. Specifically, the grass carp, a traditional species raised in fresh water, is more likely infested with parasites in the fry and fingerling stages. In the present study 900 Grass carp at fry and fingerling stages collected from 30 fish ponds in BacNinh and Hanoi provinces were treated with Praziquantel and Mebendazole against parasites by oral and immersion methods using three doses (5; 10 and 15 ppm for immerse method; 25; 50 and 75 mg/kg of fish bodyweight for oral method) in three days. The drug experiment was carried out in 38 tanks of 80x50x40cm3 with 1,140 fish at 1.89 g/fish. Each tank contained 30 fish. The result showed that two kinds of drug and two methods of treatment were effective against monegenea and metacercaria of digenea in Grass carp with dose of 15ppm for immerse method and 75 mg/kg of fish bodyweight for oral method.
